COMMUNITY PROGRAMS - Faith- based Communities

Faith-based Communities
Houses of worship are very important parts of the lives of many Tennesseans.  As such, religious leaders play a significant role in ensuring their congregants are informed with accurate information that impacts their lives.  Of course, the primary focus is faith, but faith can be magnified by the selfless act of giving life to others.  One way to do that is through National Donor Sabbath Weekend, but all of the activities listed below can be done throughout the year.

National Donor Sabbath Weekend is an annual three day period set aside to raise awareness about the critical need for organ and tissue donors and to encourage individuals to register as organ and tissue donors and share their decision about donation with family members today - in order to save lives tomorrow.

It also allows donor families, transplant recipients, and their families the opportunity to encourage their spirtual advisors to devote a service to organ and tissue donation. A congregation member may have been given a second chance at life by an organ transplant or another person in the church family may have saved lives through the donation of a loved one's organs and tissue. National Donor Sabbath Weekend is a perfect time to recognize and celebrate their gifts of life and honor those who gave.

On behalf of the over 112,000 people currently awaiting a lifesaving organ transplant, Tennessee Donor Services urges you and your congregation to participate in this important event. For more information about how you can get involved contact  your local TDS office or download free materials above.
